Sowdy is a Perth rapper and producer who has established himself as a generational auteur within hip-hop. Mixing autobiographical insights, potent poetic verses and relatable content, Sowdy uses his words to motivate and inspire. Growing up in a musical environment with a background in drumming, Sowdy has crafted a unique sound that is a nod to another era. Combining soulful samples, melodic cinematic elements, knocking 808s and thumping drums, the Perth artist continues to expand upon the new wave of hip-hop, creating a balance of old and new. With five previously released albums, Shine! (2020), Picture Show (2021) with Macks Martin, Paint the City Purple (2023), Out the Fire (2023) with dimslim and Son of Abraham (2024) with K Tha Sovereign, Sowdy has established himself as a pioneer in the exciting new scene of hip-hop and R&B emerging from Australia. A position only reaffirmed through the founding of his own independent label, Shine! Records. Sowdy’s latest offering, Auteur (2026) showcases the artist at his rawest. Sprawling across 13 meditative tracks, Sowdy reflects on life in his 20s, examining love, loss, grief, pain, joy and trauma through a collection of autobiographical vignettes. Presented as a portrait of the artist at a pivotal point in his life, Auteur explores the relationship between the person, the artist and the worlds he creates.
