Born in De Aar, Northern Cape, MIA is the personification of multi-talented. The 21-year-old singer/songwriter is inspired by Beyoncé and Jazmine Sullivan. Having participated in numerous talent shows from the age of 7, driven by her passion she decided to put her talent to the test by going to South African Idols and reaching the top 30 at the age of 16. She went on to win Best New Artist in her province in the same year. The young artist took a leap of faith, leaving home and moving more than 700 km to Johannesburg to pursue a music career. She built a fanbase through social media, which exposed her to a global audience. MIA released her debut EP titled "The Other Side" including fan favourite single What Is Love? , reaching the top 40 charts on Apple Music, she was also announced as Apple Music's Up Next artist. Since releasing her EP, she sold out her one woman show in collaboration with the R&B platform “Strictly Soul”. She's performed at Good Morning, Homecoming Africa, and many more. In 2024, she opened for American singer Xavier Omär in Cape Town. Mia has since featured on songs with Langa Mavuso, Kelvin Momo, Oscar Mbo, Citizen Deep, Bandros and many more .
