Biography & Metadata
Scott Cooley is a songwriter and recording artist who was born in Flint, Michigan in 1967, and currently resides near there. He began self-releasing independent studio albums of original songs in the early 2000s. His singer-songwriter music could be described as Americana, since it includes rock, folk and blues played on acoustic instruments with subject matter about life in the part of America where he is from. Aside from accordion played by his wife Lenore on a few songs, he is the only performer heard on his recordings, which blend multiple vocal and instrument tracks that include his playing of rhythm, lead and slide acoustic guitar, acoustic bass guitar, drums, percussion, harmonica, marimba, ukulele, mandolin, piano and organ. A true do-it-all-yourself solo artist, he is self-taught in every aspect of writing, performing and recording. Best known for his song "Mackinac Island" and for a cover of his song "Used To Be Good Looking" by solo artist Ultimate Rick Jones., as of 2026, Cooley has released 14 full-length albums of original music.
