Biography & Metadata

Jovan Ilic, who goes by the stage name Bons, is a DJ and producer specialising in drum and bass from Novi Sad, Serbia. His interest in drum and bass, specifically Neurofunk, began in 2005 when his older brother introduced him to the genre. Since then, he has passionately pursued his love for complex melodies and powerful Reese basslines. Bons started his career as a DJ in 2011 and soon ventured into music production. In August 2017, he achieved a major milestone with the release of his first EP, "Science Fiction," in collaboration with the group Colony on Warfare Recordings. Bons has made a significant impact by releasing music on labels such as Close 2 Death, Hanzom Music, Bass Rabbit, and High Resistance. He has released over 70 tracks on more than 20 different labels and has garnered support from influential figures in the Drum and Bass scene, including Black Sun Empire, Cause 4 Concern, Concord Dawn, Jade, Disphonia, Mindscape, Maztek, Erb N Dub, and Abis (formerly known as June Miller). Bons is known for his incredible DJ sets that blend the high-energy sounds of Neurofunk with various sub-genres such as Minimal and Roller. His unique music production approach involves blending samples from Balkan movies and video games with powerful and intense basslines. He performs at numerous clubs and festivals, primarily in Europe. However, the performance that truly transformed his career was at Pirate Station 2023 in Moscow, where he played in front of 10,000 people.
