Biography & Metadata

Bernz, born Bernardo Garcia is a rapper, songwriter, and producer best known as a founding member of the genre-blending hip-hop group ¡Mayday!. He co-founded the group in 2003 with guitarist and producer Aaron Eckhart (a.k.a. Plex Luthor. ¡Mayday! gained prominence in the Miami underground scene with their hit "Quicksand," leading to a deal with SouthBeat Records. Their 2006 single "Groundhog Day," featuring Cee-Lo Green, amassed over 2 million views on YouTube within a day of its release. In 2011, ¡Mayday! signed with Tech N9ne's Strange Music label, releasing several albums that showcased their fusion of hip-hop, rock, and funk. Bernz's dynamic flow and introspective lyrics became a signature element of the group's sound. In 2016, he ventured into solo work with his debut album "See You On The Other Side," which was well-received by fans and critics alike and followed that up with 2020's Sorry For The Mess. Continuing his solo career, Bernz released "Yacht Club Vol. 1" in 2021, an album that blends hip- hop with yacht rock influences, reflecting his Miami roots and personal evolution as an artist. A sequel came in the form of "Yacht Club Vol. 2" in 2023. He remains an influential figure in the hip-hop community, both as a solo artist and as a member of ¡Mayday!, contributing to the genre's diversity and depth.
