Biography & Metadata

Yamamoto Boss (Jason Hai Yamamoto) is a San Diego rapper, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and founder of Hustler’s Mentality Records. Originally launching his career in 2009, he returned after a 14-year hiatus with Back On My Grind (2023), rebuilding his name independently through relentless touring, live performances, and grassroots marketing. He followed with Boss Level I and SUMMERTIME BOSS in 2024, blending West Coast hip hop, melodic rap, storytelling, and club records. His WORLDWIDE EP expanded his reach internationally, while Love, Sex, Heartbreak, Repeat… explored R&B and emotional songwriting. In 2025, he released BOSS OF DAYGO, a personal project dedicated to his late mother featuring artists from across the U.S. Yamamoto Boss continued building momentum with The Collective Vol. 1 (2025) and The Collective Vol. 2 (2026), collaborative albums uniting rising artists from multiple regions under the Hustler’s Mentality Records movement. Known for records like “FREE TRAP,” “LIL WAYNE,” “DAYGO,” “BET THAT,” and “TWISTED,” he has performed over 200 shows across California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, and beyond. As the creator and operator of San Diego’s “Major Leagues” hip hop and R&B event series, Yamamoto Boss continues pushing the culture forward through music, concerts, artist interviews, and community building while representing loyalty, resilience, and the voice of Daygo.
