Biography & Metadata
In the 10 years since the release of his 2016 debut, Fresh Air, K-Riz’s sound has become synonymous with a seamless fusion of nostalgic R&B and melodic rap built alongside collaborations with Canada’s most exciting beat-makers. Where The Room EP (2020) captured the inner thoughts of the artist recovering from a near-death car accident, and Peace & Love (2021) traversed the personal stages of grief and joy from experiencing love, heartache, and ultimately finding inner peace, One Way Ticket (2023) was the victory lap for making it to the light on the other side. With HVN (set for release in the fall of 2026), he maintains the same sense of optimism and clarity, touching on faith, humanity, and the pursuit of happiness, while unraveling the true meaning of heaven. Over the past decade, K-Riz has earned constant acclaim. After The Room EP, Complex Canada called him "one of Alberta’s deftest lyricists,” and CBC Music described One Way Ticket as an expansion of “his sound and range as a hip-hop and R&B artist…proving that his skills can adapt to almost any environment.” He’s also been lauded by Exclaim, Bandcamp, and RANGE, and garnered a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Best Rap & Hip Hop Artist. K-Riz has shared stages with Talib Kweli and Chali 2na, and played festivals across Canada, including the Calgary Folk Music Festival, Edmonton International Jazz Festival, Sled Island, and Folk on the Rocks, among many others.
