Biography & Metadata

Nikitaa is an LA-based singer-songwriter-producer born and raised in India. Melding throwback pop R&B with their South Asian heritage, Nikitaa makes fem-empowering music that emphasizes that gender and emotional expression are never singular. Featured on NMF playlists across the world for their award-winning third release "Majesty," Nikitaa's 2020 lockdown singles arrived with self-directed videos that received critical acclaim and soared on Spotify and YouTube. A 2021 collaboration with Flyana Boss ("Boomerang") was followed by a prolific 2023 run of singles — including 'Scheming,' 'Throne,' and 'Truman Show' — earning coverage from Rolling Stone India, Radio One India, and Ones To Watch. Their 2024 EP Ascension landed on Shazam's "Best New Music" and Rolling Stone USA's "Songs You Need To Know," while "Pillow Prince" was featured on Them's "Sapphic Artists of Color" playlist. Now, Nikitaa returns with their new EP Flowers — a sun-drenched love letter to early 2000s nostalgia pop R&B. Spanning the joy of new love ("Bouquet"), the push and pull of desire ("Exhibition"), the weight of cultural displacement ("Sedate Me"), chosen family ("Friend"), and intergenerational grief and belonging ("End of the World"), Flowers is Nikitaa's most emotionally expansive work yet. As a songwriter, Nikitaa holds credits with Trophy Boy, Srushti Tawade, RIKA, Aastha Gill, Munawar Faruqi, and Raquel Saldana, among others.
