Sachi Kobayashi

Sachi Kobayashi is a Tokyo-based ambient artist whose music is distinguished by several defining characteristics: nostalgic sonic textures created with cassette tape decks, rich, multilayered harmonies within drone ambient music, and an experimental approach to sound, as heard in works such as “Imaginary Trip”, “Damage”, and “Lamentations”. However, the most distinctive aspect of her work is her ambient vocal music. Drawing on her background as a choir soloist, Kobayashi creates vocal compositions characterized by simple, gentle melodies. These melodies are supported by minimal instrumental arrangements, allowing the voice to remain at the forefront of the music. Within her choral textures, she blends her own voice with synthesized vocal sounds to create rich, immersive layers of harmony.
