KISS OF THE WHIP

KISS OF THE WHIP is a dark electronic project formed in 2017 by Montreal-born artist and producer Tristan Victor, currently based in Baltimore, Maryland (United States). His first three albums—Like Love Only Real (self-released, 2018), New Lows (Diffuse Reality Records, 2018), and We’re Not Here (Cold Transmission Music, 2019)—have firmly established his presence in darkwave, post-punk, and synthpop. The project quickly garnered an underground following across Europe and the United States. Building on the success of the 2023 collaboration Kiss of the Whip | L’Avenir - Split with fellow Baltimore artist Jason Sloan, Victor continues expanding his sonic reach with L’Avenir | KISS OF THE WHIP – Split 2 (2025). Split 2 delivers over 60 minutes of new material, emphasizing the duo’s mission to authentically bring the essence of vintage electronic music into the contemporary landscape. Jason Sloan's L’Avenir project channels the gritty minimalism of early synthpop and wave through stark, analog soundscapes. Tristan Victor’s KISS OF THE WHIP delivers emotionally charged darkwave and early EBM tracks, blending haunting melodies with rhythmic intensity. Available April 18 on CD and digital formats, Split 2 represents a vivid evolution of this creative partnership, defined by clarity, intensity, and a profound respect for the electronic underground.
