Biography & Metadata
Pleiadians is the legendary sci-fi Goa and psychedelic trance alter-ego of the pioneering Italian electronic act Etnica. Formed in Milan in the 1990s, the project consists of producers Max Lanfranconi and Maurizio Begotti. While their Etnica project is focused on traditional Goa trance, Pleiadians pushed the boundaries of the genre. Their tracks are highly complex, featuring dark, twisted, and heavily layered frequencies grounded by driving basslines and rapid, symphonic synth arrangements. Pleiadians made their mark with their seminal 1997 debut album, "I.F.O. (Identified Flying Object)". Released on the renowned Dragonfly Records from UK, the album became a foundational pillar of morning Goa trance. Characterized by acidic squelches, heavy sci-fi samples, and driving, layered rhythms, it remains a genre classic. Shortly after the debut, the group relocated their studio to Ibiza, Spain, and later to Granada. Their 1999 sophomore album, "Family of Light", pushed boundaries with darker, heavier basslines while maintaining their signature cosmic aesthetic. The acclaimed Italian duo remains active in the underground electronic music circuit, touring psytrance festivals worldwide and releasing celebrated albums such as "Seven Sisters" and 2019's "Pyramid". They recently marked three decades of sonic exploration, cementing their status as architects of "old-school" Goa trance and pillars of the global psytrance community.
