MATTERS is an independent Australian recording artist and songwriter from Newcastle, NSW, blending raw emotion, technical lyricism, and real-life storytelling into a sound that sits between hip hop, rap poetry, and alternative expression. Starting music later in life, MATTERS built his catalogue from the ground up, turning personal struggle, loss, overthinking, and self-reflection into music that connects deeply with listeners who feel outside the norm. What began as writing to cope became a genuine artistic movement. After losing his mother to cancer, MATTERS found purpose through lyrics, using music as both therapy and expression. Without industry connections or a traditional musical background, he independently taught himself how to write, record, release, and market music proving that authenticity and persistence can carve a lane of their own. His latest album, Out My Mind , showcases his most complete body of work to date. featuring 10 different artists , The project explores mental chaos, growth, isolation, identity, humour, philosophy, and resilience, while balancing introspective storytelling with sharp technical flows and memorable hooks.
