Biography & Metadata

Swiss pianist and composer Simon Bächinger crafts intimate neoclassical and ambient piano music shaped by a uniquely modified Steinway and a deeply personal sonic vision. Blending classical virtuosity with subtle electronics, improvisation and modern production aesthetics, he creates immersive sound worlds for listeners of contemporary post classical music. His musical path began early. At the age of twelve he performed a Mozart piano concerto with orchestra and received several awards, laying the foundation for his deep connection to the classical tradition. Working from his own studio equipped with boutique microphones, Bächinger has developed a warm and emotionally close piano sound. Grammy Award winning mastering engineer Bob Katz described one of his recordings as “the most unique piano recording I have ever worked with.” His music often emerges from late night improvisations and explores the fragile boundary between acoustic purity and electronic texture. Alongside his artistic work, he serves as a lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts. Releases such as Nana Bianca and Brooklyn Lights place him among a new generation of European neoclassical artists redefining the modern piano landscape.
