Biography & Metadata
“Weekend in Manhattan” is the first release from Wally Viber, which is the collective name for a loose group of musicians who regularly do session work for VSM Records. They all share a love of 50s Jazz and regularly jam after hours at VSO Recording studios. These jams were recorded for everyone to enjoy and when it became apparent that everyone liked a lot of the tunes, they decided to get serious. They pulled a dozen songs from the various jam tapes and worked to refine them. They decided on a theme of musically visualizing a weekend in 1950s NYC. Club hopping and all night traipsing around the city should be the goal, which we think they've accomplished to a tee. The album begins as we enter Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge and then takes you down into smoky nightclubs where Martinis and Scotch on the Rocks are the drinks of choice. As the night comes to a close we wander to the Brooklyn Bridge Pier or maybe catch a Staten Island Ferry, where we watch the sunrise before returning to our regular lives. We hope you enjoy our musical fantasy and if you do check out Frank Marino Bass, our Italian Jazz artist. VSM Records was founded to release music that we enjoy regardless of genre. Presently our other releases are by John Mirani and Frankie V and the Lonely Club.
