Daniel Houze

Houze is a bonafide country boy steeped in the soulful, earthy traditions of the countryside. And, more than that, he’s established himself, through a reputation for kindness and hard work, as a community favorite away from the lights. It was fate that brought his long-time friend, Tyler Torgerson, to Daniel’s home one afternoon with his guitar. Taking it all in, Houze made a promise to himself: He’d learn to play like that. “Just watching him play, something hit me,” Houze recalls. “I thought: There’s no way I can’t do that.” Torgerson handed the guitar over, showed Daniel a few chords, and stood back in amazement at how quickly his friend picked it up. He told Daniel he’d be playing shows in no time. Six months later, Daniel booked his first show, and he hasn’t slowed. Stages as diverse as the Sucarnochee Review and FloraBama. He's had the privilege to share the stage with Names Like Tracy Lawrence, and Jeff Bates. Tragically, Tyler Torgerson has since passed away, but with every note and strum, his spirit lives with Daniel. With Pride, Daniel announces his new single, “Whiskey and Smoke,” is available now on all Digital platforms, released by Blue Sky Studio and Casey Combest’s recording team. No matter where you find Daniel, whether you catch one of his four-show-a-week performances in South Mississippi or run into him at the local convenience store, he’s always wearing his big, old, country boy smile and a helping hand ready for a new friend!
