As the leader of South Korean boy band GOT7, Jay B has contributed to the mainstream K-pop and Korean hip-hop sound that has dominated the market. Under the guise of Def. he produces a more underground take on the mainstream sound, releasing his debut EP, LOVE., in 2022. As a key figure of the South Korean pop industry, Jay B (aka Lim Jae-beom) has become synonymous with the glistening pop-production of the K-pop scene through his work with GOT7 and with other groups including JJ Project and its sub-unit Jus2. Wanting to explore different territory, Jay B started to record under the name Def., which allowed him to delve into a more experimental and alternative take on the K-pop sound. First using the name as part of the R&B crew ØFFSHORE, which he formed with RoseInPeace, the group would go on to issue three EPs between 2019 and 2021.
