Saad Rhy

Kalayo is Saad Rhy’s first official solo single released under Warner Music Philippines, Produced by DJ Young, from Iloilo, who also is an artist of Warner Music Philippines. Saad Rhy is a music artist based in Cebu, Philippines. Born in Saudi Arabia, his passion in music started at the age of 10, when he got exposed to hiphop music from artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent and more. Since then, he started writing songs. Eventually, he moved to the Philippines and became part of an underground band called “The Drop Out Club”. He used to produce for other artists including his own early independent releases. Though he started in underground hiphop scene and being in the music industry for 6 years, he has experimented into different genres resulting in his interest of Afrobeat and is now diving into the mainstream industry. “Kalayo” has a tropical sound that fits the Visayan island culture. The artist’s genre in Afrobeat rooted from his interest of the African culture and their music. He is also reminded of Middle Eastern music that he grew up with, which is also somehow similar to the African sound. Saad Rhy decided to create his own music with these as his inspiration. “Kalayo” is about “playing with fire” which directly means making love, although is not limited to that. It’s a story about how a guy shows affection towards his partner, not just from the start but everyday. It is the artist’s creative way of showing his perspective on romance and relationship.
