Ghanaian singer, percussionist and bandleader Eric “King” Owusu is known from the internationally acclaimed Berlin-based Afro Soul band Jembaa Groove, as well as numerous past collaborations with global musical legends such as Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas. Owusu, an unparalleled live entertainer inspired by Richard Bona and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley shows an exceptional musical sensitivity, moving effortlessly beyond West African Highlife and Afrobeat, through the worlds of Jazz, Groove, Pop and Dance. No matter if concert or dancefloor, large festival crowd or small livingroom audience King Owusus performances are capturing, inviting, open hearted and always a party. Owusu has been part of some of the grooviest records of the past years from the extended collaborations with JJ Whitefield, his vast impact on the Berlin Jazz scene supporting Projects like Àbáse, ZFEX and Move 78 with voice and percussion, his studio collaborations with Pachakuti and young.vishnu, as well as supporting modern Pop, R’n’B and Afrobeats Artists like Omah Lay or J.Lamotta live and recorded.
