Portraits in Jazz

Portraits in Jazz is a collaboration between four star musicains on the Danish jazz scene. The founders Nikolaj Hess and Claus Waidtløw are two of the leading jazz players out of Denmark. Waidtløws big and beautiful sound combined with his lyrical approach to playing, has given him many fans all over the world and many well deserved accolades. Nikolaj Hess is one of the top pianists from Europe, highly praised for his delicate playing and golden touch on the instrument. “One of the most inventive jazz pianists working today” writes Mitch Myers from Magnet Magazine/Down Beat. Anders Christensen is a bass giant, not only in Denmark, but all over the world. Besides playing in the late Paul Motians Electric Bebop band, “AC” also played with the famous rock group The Raveonettes. Jakob Høyer is highly respected for his unique playing, also with international succeses like Josh Haden. He is working both in the jazz and rock fields and like “AC”, Jakob was a member of The Raveonettes. The Portraits in Jazz album “Sunday” has gained more than 34 million streams on Spotify alone, which is remarkable for an instrumental jazz album. The third album is released June 26 2026.
