Biography & Metadata

Hillary Klug is a fiddler, singer, and percussive dancer known for bringing the old-time traditions of American fiddle music and dance together in a style all her own. Raised in Tennessee, Hillary began fiddling as a teenager and developed her signature combination of fiddle and dance while street performing in downtown Nashville. Her music is rooted in old-time fiddle tunes, buck dancing, flatfooting, and the traditional music of the American South. She has since performed and taught across 17 countries while introducing millions of people online to traditional American music and dance. A two-time National Buck Dance Champion, Hillary approaches dance not simply as something visual, but as part of the music itself. Her feet provide rhythm and percussion alongside her fiddle—an idea at the heart of her 2026 album, *Dancing Fiddler*. After years of making recordings where listeners could hear the fiddle but had to watch a video to experience the dancing, Hillary set out to capture both. She experimented with footwear, dance surfaces, microphones, and recording techniques to bring fiddle and feet together on the record. Her previous album, *Howdy Y'all*, reached #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart. Whether playing an old fiddle tune, singing a traditional song, or dancing the rhythm beneath it, Hillary's work is driven by a love for the traditions that shaped her—and a desire to keep them living and being passed along.
