Drego & Beno

At the cusp of the new wave of Detroit rap, duo Drego & Beno became local legends in the latter half of the 2010s with their infectious street anthems. After Drego found success on Sada Baby's now-legendary anthem "Bloxk Party," he teamed up with childhood friend Lil Beno to form a dynamic rap duo who released their debut mixtape, Sorry for the Get Off, in July 2018. While Detroit rapper Drego had built a local following in the late 2010s, it was soon eclipsed by his work on the iconic 2018 single "Bloxk Party." Widely regarded as the key hit at the core of modern Detroit rap, the track gave Drego an audience after over 80 million views. With the spotlight firmly on the Detroit up-and-comer, he linked up with childhood friend and fellow rapper Lil Beno to form the rap duo Drego & Beno in early 2018. Their debut tape arrived in July that year. Titled Sorry for the Get Off, it demonstrated the duo's flair for the bouncy production of modern Detroit rap. Two further tapes followed toward the end of the year: Meet Us Outer Space saw the duo put their spin on the modern trap scene, while Sorry for the AutoTune took them further back to their more localized roots. ~ David Crone, Rovi
