Biography & Metadata

Treman is piano music by composer Josh Jacobson. Growing up in a musical family in Ithaca NY, Josh was surrounded by classical music from a young age. His mom was the concertmaster of an orchestra and taught violin lessons in the living room, so he absorbed a lot of music even before beginning piano lessons at age five. Josh is now based in Los Angeles and primarily creates electronic music under his name. He's toured around the world performing his own music and with other bands. Some highlights include playing Coachella, Seoul Jazz Festival and European festivals and appearing on TV shows ranging all the way from The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel to Good Morning America and Ellen. Josh has composed original music for Mazda, Roland, and a documentary featured in the Manhattan Film Festival. Getting away from all of the commotion of the music business and just recording soulful piano music like this is a spiritual pursuit and a return to Josh's roots. So Treman is a project about musical origins, which is why it's named after the state park in Ithaca with a stunning gorge trail. As a composer, Josh brings an intuitive sensibility, with a sound that references the classical piano tradition while also bringing in the free flow of jazz improvisation and the thoughtful minimalism of modern pop music. The music here aims to capture the most direct expression of how magical it feels to sit down at the piano and just play. Listen, relax, and enjoy :) -Josh
