Biography & Metadata
Formed in Los Angeles and fronted by Brody Dalle, The Distillers emerged from the underground with a sound that was raw, melodic, dangerous, and emotionally fearless. At a time when punk rock was becoming increasingly polished, the band brought back urgency, unpredictability, and real emotional weight. Across their landmark albums The Distillers, Sing Sing Death House, and Coral Fang, the band created anthems that defined a generation. Songs like “Drain the Blood,” “City of Angels,” “The Hunger,” “Beat Your Heart Out,” and “The Young Crazed Peeling” became staples of modern punk and alternative music while influencing countless artists across rock, hardcore, indie, and metal. At the center of the band is Brody Dalle — one of the most distinctive voices in modern music. Her songwriting turned personal experiences of alienation, addiction, love, rage, trauma, and resilience into something universal. With a voice capable of both razor-wire intensity and haunting vulnerability, Dalle helped redefine what punk rock could sound and feel like. The Distillers became equally renowned for their explosive live performances — chaotic, cathartic, and unforgettable shows that earned the band a fiercely loyal global following. Even during years away from the spotlight, their influence only continued to grow as new generations discovered records that never lost their power or relevance.
