Biography & Metadata

“Low-key R&B legend" Eddie Chacon made an indelible mark in popular music as half of the duo Charles & Eddie, whose 1992 single "Would I Lie To You?" was a number one hit heard around the world. The group’s 8-million-records-sold rocket to the stars lasted a few years, and Eddie spent the next couple of decades carving out a career as a photographer and creative director. He returned to music in 2020 with 'Pleasure, Joy and Happiness' (produced by John Carroll Kirby) (MOJO MAGAZINE - “a mini modern masterpiece” ) and signed to Stones Throw Records in 2022 with his follow-up album 'Sundown'. On his new record 'Lay Low', Eddie joins forces with Nick Hakim for a project centered around love and letting go, dedicated to his late mother Patricia. “Eddie Chacon taps into the soulful musings of someone seeking earnestness, truth, and something bigger than himself.” - Pitchfork "This is the sound of modern soul, and soul-baring, supercharged with vitality and purpose." - Record Collector Magazine “Lay Low is another excellent addition to an ever-growing catalog… these songs offer a portrait of a changing world and the battle to stay hopeful.” - The Fader "Eddie Chacon’s R&B pop exploits are both influential and legendary." -KCRW
