Biography & Metadata

With a voice that's both silvery and raw, Dutch singer and pianist Jacqueline Govaert was born in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands and began writing songs at age 12. As lead singer and main songwriter, she formed the English-language Dutch alt-rock group Krezip in Tilburg in 1997 while still in her midteens. The band released an EP titled Run Around in 1999 and signed with Warner Music. Their first full-length album, 2000's Nothing Less, featured the hit song "I Would Stay," and topped the album charts in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 2002 the band released the album Days Like This followed in 2005 with 'What Are You Waiting For'. A more electronic, disco-influenced album, Plug It In, arrived in 2007. Their final album, Best Of, which included hit single ‘’Sweet Goodbyes’’ was released in late 2008. After the group officially disbanded in 2009, Govaert quickly embarked on a solo career, releasing Good Life in 2010. The intimate Songs to Soothe followed in 2014. Lighthearted Years became her third straight top ten album after its release in 2017. On January 28, 2019 Krezip reformed and released come back single ‘’Lost Without You’’ followed by the album ‘’Sweet High’’ later that year. Their sixth full length album ‘’Any Day Now’’ arrived in April 2023. In 2024, Jacqueline Govaert collaborated on a new drama series (Maxima). For this series she wrote the leader and a song for each episode. Which resulted in the album ''Maxima'' which was released in April 2024.
