My real name is Chiamaka. My stage name “AEMA” is pronounced (Eyy-Marr). I am a singer and songwriter and a visionary. I speak English, Igbo and fluent Sarcasm. I was born and bred in Lagos with my little family of 4 (myself included). Dad was away often and Mom had to work. I had a neighbor then( a young couple), I hung out at their house everyday as of age 5+ to watch Channel O and MTV all day. I was introduced to the Spice girls, Backstreet Boys, Westlife and the likes lol I was so hooked and when I get home I get to enjoy some African Music from our stereo. Saturday mornings while we did house chores Bright Chimezie or Oliver d’ Coque would keep us company the entire time. It was a perfect blend of cultural sounds which with time shaped the creative understanding of my Art. Hip hop was the the only genre that influenced my sound ( I’m sure you’d have guessed) and a huge inspiration was Nicki Minaj. Shout out to her🫶🏽 Now I’m gifted with the ability to alternate between sounds however I desire. This is why you’re here.
