Biography & Metadata

Backsy is a grime and soul-influenced MC from Bristol whose energetic delivery and versatile sound place him among a new generation of artists shaping the city’s 140 scene. Over recent years he has steadily built momentum through records, live performances and collaborative creative projects. His catalogue includes the collaboration “Twins” with KDogg KT, which has surpassed 80,000 streams, and “ADHD”, which reached the Top 25 grime releases on Beatport in December 2025. Another standout track, “ESH91” with producer OH91, draws from Backsy’s early background in beatboxing, using a distinctive vocal ad-lib that has become a crowd interaction moment during his live sets. Known for his energetic stage presence, Backsy has performed across the UK including Bristol, London, and Birmingham. He has also appeared twice at Sofar Sounds, delivering an acoustic twist of his music that highlight the soulful side of his songwriting. He has also played across many festivals including Love Saves The Day where he has played both on the main stage and with Grime veteran Sir Spyro. Beyond this, Backsy runs S’eshons, a collaborative studio series where artists and producers create a track from scratch within three hours. Each episode documents the creative process and concludes with a music video. He also hosts Live S’eshons on Decadance Bristol, a grime and 140-focused radio show. His wider radio appearances include SWU FM, Mode FM, Subtle Radio, Reprezent Radio and BBC Radio Bristol.
