2022 was a crucial year for SANTO BEATS, who managed to gain recognition in the Latin Phonk scene with more than 10 Million streams internationally, starting from December of 2022, when he became the first Costa Rican artist to be featured on the Oficial phonk Editorial Playlist followed by 2upset2die, Shadow - Plus and KREZUS. His track WAVESTAR featuring Diambu involved the idea of a new phonk sub-genre, this captured the Latin Phonk community’s attention, and made the track became his first entry to the mentioned playlist, months later, BLEED would be added to the playlist as well, considering the small audience and recognition Santo had at the moment, this was very unlikely to happen. Santo’s discography stands out due to his ability to blend different EDM genres with the phonk sound, maintaining their roots in the process, this got him into many controversies on his social media, as his sound would not be easy to digest for the average Phonk listener, due to this, he started to work on his second album NOT SORRY , in which he went into a full experimentation of the Phonk sound as a response for the feedback received. Late on 2023, he started a new artistic direction and wider path under the alias LOTUS , but before this happened, he released his last album PHONKALIPSIS composed of fresh ideas that weren’t released before, this genre has an especial place on his heart and music journey, which will always remain here.
