Biography & Metadata

Tebogo Leshotho, better known as Slezz , was born in the 80s in Welkom, South Africa. His passion for music began at the age of 13, experimenting with computers and quickly gaining recognition at local parties for his energetic megamixes. By 2004, Slezz elevated his craft after being introduced to Image-Line Fruityloops, a pivotal moment that transformed his approach to production. In 2005, he began creating original tracks, distributing them to DJs for promotion and building a reputation in the underground scene. Between 2007 and 2008, Slezz collaborated with Benny, producing local house tracks such as Tequila Blanco, The World is Dark, and Magic. Around the same time, he connected with DJ Matshidi (Tsheidiso Moeng) (later known as Monocles), and together with Andries Jezile, they founded Ska-lla Records. This collective became a platform for emerging talent in Welkom, nurturing a new wave of South African house producers. Over the years, Monocles & Slezz have released numerous tracks across international platforms, gaining recognition in the Afro House and Deep House scenes. Most recently, their single “Dirty Mirror” (2024) was released under Ska-lla Records and is now streaming on Spotify, continuing their legacy of pushing South African house music to international audiences. 2026 kickstarts them with "Going Deep EP" and many more to come.
