Nomieye

Nomieye is the modular synthesizer alias of London-based jazz-adjacent and improvising trombonist Rosie Turton. As Rosie Turton started putting the modular synthesiser to the forefront of her musical expression, Nomieye naturally emerged as a moniker to explore this more ambient focused music. Still holding improvisation as central to her music, Nomieye has already amassed a following through her newsletter-only improvisation series ‘Sonic Fabrics’ - featuring guests Maria Chiara Argirò, Peter Zummo, Hector Plimmer, and Lorenz Okello. Rosie Turton has long been a central figure in the new London Jazz scene, being named by The Guardian as ‘One To Watch’ and nominated for Jazz FM’s ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year’, alongside previous releases being supported on the radio by Gilles Peterson, Iggy Pop, Zakia, Hannah Peel and Jamie Cullum. Incorporating her love of playing trombone and modular synthesizer to the centre of her compositions, Turton has crafted a unique sound un-bound by genre, making her one of the most in-demand artists on the UK music scene. This has led to commissions by Tomorrow’s Warriors and Sound and Music, alongside performances of her music at venues and festivals such as We Out Here, EFG London Jazz Festival, The Barbican, Kings Place, and The Queen Elizabeth Hall. Rosie has collaborated, recorded and performed with artists such as Nérija, Nwando Ebizie, Shabaka, Sarathy Korwar, Thom Yorke, Miryam Solomon, Zoe Rahman, Camilla George and Yazz Ahmed.
