Mon Rayon

Mon Rayon are Josef Ask and Christoffer Zetterlund, a Stockholm duo making music that’s never been particularly interested in staying within one genre. Their sound pulls from 1960s French and baroque pop, British indie, soul, psychedelia and the cinematic world of spaghetti westerns - once described by the band as somewhere between “a full English breakfast and the Sanremo Festival in the 1960s.” At the heart of it all is melody, musicianship and a love of people playing together. Their self-produced debut album Image Repertoire was largely recorded live in a converted chapel in the Swedish countryside, alongside a close group of musicians they’ve worked with for years. Strings, harpsichord and sweeping arrangements sit alongside something deliberately loose and human: music allowed to breathe, move and occasionally be imperfect.
