A4

A4 (Orkhan Taghiyev) is an Azerbaijani underground hip-hop artist known for his thoughtful lyricism, boom-bap sound, and dedication to conscious rap. A4 began his musical journey in 2002 with his friend Yaver Mammedov (Yarzo), forming the rap group Qanun. Later, Kamil Ismayilov (OD) and Namig Guliyev (Biznessman) joined the collective. During this period, A4 performed under the nickname T.Or, taken from the initials of his surname and name: Taghiyev Orkhan. In 2010, Qanun released their mixtape album "Maddə 1", a project fully produced by group members. After a two-year break from releasing music, A4 sought a fresh start. In 2012, while walking near a construction site, he noticed ground markings like A3, A4, A5, B1, etc. The symbol A4 resonated with him: a blank sheet of paper, a clean slate — the beginning of a new creative chapter. A4 focuses on delivering layered meaning in his work — metaphors, social commentary, philosophical references, and reflections on hip-hop culture. His lyrics often explore topics such as societal issues, determinism vs. free will, and the search for meaning. A4 was one of the founders of Synaps Production, where he worked as both a sound engineer and producer. In 2014, he released his solo album "Rebirth". He is widely remembered for producing the influential project T.T.M, featuring Xpert and Paster. A4 has also served as a battle rap judge in major Azerbaijani projects such as "Eon Liqa", "Kəllə Kəlləyə", and "UnderGame".
