Zirrion

Zirrion is the electronic music project of Filipino producer and songwriter RJ Montalban, known for its melodic sound, nostalgic undertones, and atmospheric production. Inspired by artists such as Owl City, Avicii, Madeon, and Porter Robinson, Montalban began developing the project during his high school years after discovering music production through FL Studio. What started as an experiment grew into an outlet for imagination, storytelling, and building worlds through sound. Zirrion explored various styles of electronic music, incorporating elements of indie pop, melodic bass, and alternative influences. The project gained momentum through independent releases and international collaborations, eventually reaching 100,000 streams on Spotify. Montalban also expanded into songwriting, with two of his compositions reaching the finals of the Awitenista songwriting competition and receiving releases under its label. By 2020, Zirrion had reached one of its most active periods, marked by international collaborations and further experimentation. As Montalban's creative interests evolved, the project gradually took a backseat, with its final releases arriving in 2022. Zirrion remains an important chapter in his development as a producer, reflecting his early passion for melodic nostalgia, experimentation, and creating worlds through music.
