Dhruv Ghanekar is a genre-defying composer, guitarist, producer, and all-round musical mischief-maker. His sound is what happens when a Mumbai rickshaw ride crashes into a West African street party, swerves past a jazz club in Soho, and lands up at Glastonbury — all in under four minutes. He’s scored films (some big, some delightfully bonkers), composed over 4,000 ads (you’ve definitely hummed a few without realising), and released albums that your algorithm still hasn’t figured out. Founder of BlueFrog — the now-mythical venue that kickstarted India’s indie scene — and the boss behind Wah Wah Records, Dhruv is as much a cultural architect as he is a fretboard assassin. Whether he’s working with folk legends or creating futuristic bangers with a bansuri, it all somehow makes sense. He’s performed across the world, won shiny awards, and still insists on real instruments — a bit old school, a bit rock’n’roll, a bit “what happens if we add this groove here?” Dhruv’s world is colourful, unapologetic, and always moving to a beat that’s uniquely his own.
