Joe Barbieri

Neapolitan singer-songwriter, producer and composer Joe Barbieri has made his mark as an outsider on the international music scene, blending jazz, world music and Italian songwriting. Discovered by Pino Daniele, he made his independent debut in 2004 with In Parole Povere, immediately winning over critics and audiences abroad, from Japan to Europe. His albums of original material, from Maison Maravilha (2009) and Respiro (2012) to Tratto Da Una Storia Vera (2021) and Big Bang (2025), feature collaborations with cult artists such as Omara Portuondo, Jorge Drexler and Stacey Kent. Over the years he has paired his own songs with tributes to jazz (Chet Lives!, Dear Billie) and an exploration of the Neapolitan song tradition (Vulío). Alongside this, he has built a significant career as a producer and songwriter for other artists, as well as composing for theatre and television.
