Biography & Metadata
Built on a mix of ethereal vocals, soaring sax, field recordings, acoustic textures and lush synths, Daley Road is all about creating something that feels soft and peaceful — described as a warm blanket on a rainy day. Their mantra is simple: create what you wish to experience. Daley Road's sound has been called “peaceful, meditative” (Declan Byrne, Triple J), “delicate ambient pop” (Kaitlin Crabbe, Triple J), “the life cleanse you’ve been looking for” (Tone Deaf), and “Beautiful, intentional” (Lauren Guerrera, Triple J) and has been featured by prominent playlisters such as alexrainbirdMusic and Indie Folk Central. It’s of note that Hugo is the sax/keys player with ICEHOUSE, and has played with a myriad of artists including Riley Pearce, Woodlock, Garrett Kato, Holy Holy and Hayden Calnin. James has toured around the country and internationally fronting Indie-Folk band The Tipsy Scholars. When not making music, you’ll find James painting and teaching, and Hugo running ultramarathons through the mountains or deep diving his academic love of physics & acoustics. For all it’s worth though, Daley Road is the project of longtime friends Hugo Lee and James Kelly who met at the Australian National University School of Music and now make music together in Naarm/Melbourne. The friendship at its core has been what’s enabled a constant musical progression since Daley Road's inception. ...for fans of Bon Iver, Novo Amor, Angie McMahon, London Grammar... Sit back, and enjoy.
