Ankie Bagger

Ankie Bagger rose to prominence during the 1980s with hits such as People Say It’s in the Air and Where Were You Last Night, quickly becoming an established part of the Swedish pop wave. Discovered during Sweden’s pop explosion of the 1980s and shaped by some of the country’s most influential producers — including Ola Håkansson and Alexander Bard — she early on secured her place in Swedish pop history. Before launching her solo career, she worked as a backing vocalist and dancer, growing up in Sollentuna where she frequently performed alongside her close friend Susie Päivärinta from Lili & Susie. She also appeared as a backing vocalist on the duo’s breakthrough hit Oh Mama, which became the starting point of her own recording career. In 1989, she performed as a backing vocalist for Tommy Nilsson in the winning entry En dag at Melodifestivalen 1989, which later represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989. With several hit singles to her name, extensive touring followed, along with continued success through songs such as Don’t You Know and I Was Made for Loving You. Her music has now been streamed more than 14.5 million times. Over the years, Ankie Bagger has established herself as a respected live performer, with extensive touring, a Grammis nomination, gold-certified record sales, and strong chart success among her achievements. For many years, she has also worked alongside Dr. Alban, performing as part of his international live and touring productions.
