Biography & Metadata

Roxana Amed is a Latin GRAMMY® nominee, Gardel Award winner, and one of Argentina’s most powerful and visionary jazz voices. Born in Buenos Aires and based in the U.S., she fuses South American folk, Argentine rock, poetry, and contemporary jazz into a sound that is both intimate and expansive. Her acclaimed album Ontology earned two Latin GRAMMY® nominations and a Gardel Award, followed by Unánime, featuring Latin jazz icons Chucho Valdés, Pedro Aznar, Niño Josele, and more. In 2024, Becoming Human was praised by All About Jazz as “the most powerful statement yet that Amed belongs in the front line of jazz vocalists.” On May 23, 2025, she releases Todos los fuegos (Sony Music Latin), a bold reimagining of Argentine rock classics through the lens of jazz — with songs by Spinetta, Fito Páez, Charly García, and Cerati, and contributions from Leo Genovese, Tim Lefebvre, Kenny Wollesen, Mark Small, and Martin Bejerano. Amed was awarded the 2025 Konex Merit Diploma for Jazz Soloist and is a professor at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. She continues to expand the language of Latin American jazz, bridging genres, borders, and generations with her voice and vision.
