Biography & Metadata
Upwood Avenue began long before it had a name. It began on a Toronto street where childhood friends Ed Corrado and Piero Minelli pretended to be The Beatles, strumming tennis rackets before they had real guitars. Music gave them somewhere to put the things they couldn’t always say out loud—the frustration, hope and restless ambition that came with growing up. Life eventually carried them beyond Upwood Avenue. Piero moved away, different bands came and went, and decades passed. But the friendship remained—and so did the songs. When Ed and Piero formed Upwood Avenue, they weren’t trying to relive their youth. They were finishing what those two kids had started. That history lives inside their music: songs about aging, lost time, relationships, disillusionment and the person staring back from the mirror. Some were newly written; others waited more than 30 years to be heard. After initially feeling as though nobody was listening, Upwood Avenue found its audience through persistence, Canadian radio play, grassroots support and more than one million independent streams. Upwood Avenue is proof that friendship, music and unfinished dreams don’t have an expiry date. Some songs simply have to wait until the world is ready to hear them.
