Biography & Metadata
Tom River is an Australian folk artist and producer from Margaret River, Western Australia - one half of internationally touring duo Salt Tree. Where Salt Tree roams, his solo project stays close: intimate storytelling built on delicate acoustic work, airy harmonies, and subtle pop melodies that carry the weight of years spent performing across Europe and Australasia. It's music made for quiet rooms and long drives, unhurried and unguarded. His latest single, "long year", trades that stillness for momentum. An upbeat, acoustic-driven anthem about coming through a year of major change - love, loss, growth, hard decisions and new beginnings - it follows someone always moving and chasing what's next before arriving at a simpler truth: that what matters most is connection, home, and the people you share it with. Fittingly, Tom began writing it in an unlikely place - on a boat moored inside a cave in the Swiss Alps. Driven by acoustic guitars, propulsive drums and a soaring singalong chorus, it's a brighter, more expansive sound than its predecessors while keeping his intimate songwriting at its core: restlessness giving way to belonging. Releasing new music monthly throughout 2026, Tom River is emerging as one of Australia's most compelling new voices. This July he joins South African roots phenom Jeremy Loops on tour across Australia and New Zealand, before heading to Europe and the UK supporting Finojet this October.
