Maffmatix

From the shadows of a world unseen, Maffmatix weaves a tapestry of sound where hip-hop & electronica entwine in a fevered dream. Born and raised in the Boston area, his musical origins lie in the sun-bleached sprawl of Los Angeles where he first bent notes and broke rhythms alongside rappers and metal-heads, howling to the void. Amidst the bohemian buskers and underground bands he sharpened his craft whilst collaborating as often as possible with artists from various walks of life. Eventually he drifted to the humid embrace of South East Asia—a land of ancient echoes and neon nights. There he roamed with indie bands and spun beats as a DJ. From these unions sprang visions—music videos flickering like half-remembered dreams, live performances and creations too fleeting to name. Comparable artists vary-Fred again.., Apathy, Beastie Boys, ILL BILL, A Tribe Called Quest, Ween and so on. Along with working on solo projects, he also moves as a phantom in two guises: one half of 'Ric & Maff', a hip-hop duo forged with the South African enigma Rorschach Ric; and a voice within 'Pandemonium', a collective shrouded in mystery.
