Biography & Metadata

Jürgen Saalmann is a German composer, guitarist and live-looping artist creating cinematic instrumental music beyond genre boundaries. Jürgen Saalmann is also the producer of the electronic project SALMAN the ambient project Flumina and the acoustic guitar project Juri van Saal. Rooted in classical guitar and shaped by years in progressive rock and electronic production, his work moves freely between ambient textures, neo-classical elements, world music influences, jazz colors and subtle pop structures. Rather than thinking in categories, Saalmann composes in moods, atmospheres and movement. At the heart of his music lies a simple principle: listening is an attitude. Many of his pieces begin not with a melody, but with attention — to sound, to space, to everyday textures. Structure emerges organically, often without a fixed plan, allowing the music to find its own direction. On stage, Saalmann transforms into a one-man ensemble. With nylon-string guitar, bass, percussion, live loops and carefully layered soundscapes, he builds his music in real time — without safety nets. The result is immersive, cinematic acoustic journeys that invite the listener to slow down, travel inward and explore new sonic landscapes. His music speaks to curious listeners who appreciate instrumental storytelling, open genres and sound as experience.
