Biography & Metadata

The Oldman Sound from South Shields, bring an exploratory spirit to melodic guitar pop. Interlocking guitars, close vocal harmonies and bittersweet lyrics anchor songs that move between intimate folk-pop and expansive psychedelia, with an instinct for finding something unexpected inside a familiar form. The band grew out of the songwriting partnership of Andrew Coiley and Andrew Forster. Together, they bring a shared appetite for melody and inventive arrangements to songs that balance warmth with melancholy. Their 2026 EP, Fair-weather, captures that range across three songs: the title track’s sunlit opening and darker second act, the understated Dead Strings, and the richly layered Tame (A Saint’s Life). It is a compact introduction to a band whose songs reveal their character in the details. “Beatles-meets-XTC quality … enough imagination to put bands with ten times the profile to shame.” Gigslutz | EP of the Month | 5/5 “A power pop/indie folk masterpiece.” Thoughts Words Action “Songs that feel like classics penned by the great bands of the past.” Indie Bunnies
