Biography & Metadata

Puma Blue is the alias of artist, producer & poet Jacob Allen. Originally finding recognition in the South London music scene for his falsetto vocal and dark, lo-fi textures, Puma Blue's music blends sensuality, intimate fragility and haunting, nocturnal ambience. Performed with a band of friends, his live shows combine jazz and dub-influenced improvisation with a vocal energy often likened to Jeff Buckley. After early acclaim with EPs Swum Baby (2017) & Blood Loss (2018), Puma Blue gained wider attention with his debut albumIn Praise Of Shadows in 2021, alongside concert film ‘A Late Night Special’. His second album Holy Waters, a band-focused meditation on love and grief, was released in 2023. In 2025, surprise sister-albums antichamber & extchamber explored a minimalist, stripped-back sound, the latter built entirely from obscure ambient arrangements & field recordings. In 2026 Puma Blue released Croak Dream a darker, punchier and boldly experimental album born from collaged tape loops, jam sessions and scraps of unfinished songs, drawing heavily on Bristol trip-hop and 90s subculture. As a producer, Jacob has collaborated with peers including Loyle Carner, Biig Piig, bandmates Dweller and SALPA, alongside producing archival/ambient project Frog Temple with his partner Liv. Jacob currently resides in Atlanta, where he writes poetry, makes music under the more mysterious monikers Ruby Bliels & Shadow Carp, as well as his own short films and music videos.
