Biography & Metadata
Growing up between a suburban air force town in Texas and the English commuter-ville of Swindon, Rainn Byrns now resides in South London, huddled amongst tape machines in his home studio. Time spent stateside informed an early penchant for Americana, and the prevalence of lo-fi and DIY culture during his formative years still bleed into his own writing and production. Backed by his band of trusted droogs The Byrnouts, Rainn's crappy-go-lucky interpretation of the world around him is equal parts earnest and irreverent - a balance of youthful ennui and an impulse to make light of it. With support from BBC 6Music's Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé & Radio X's John Kennedy plus shows with The Beths, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and Francis Lung, Rainn releases his long awaited album 'New In Town'. "The LP is filled with lo-fi gems" - DIY "Lo-fi bedroom pop with a crackling, timeless edge" ★★★★ - DORK "An eclectic & irreverent debut jam-packed with soothing melodies & a tongue-in-cheek vocal delivery; Byrns isn't running anymore, instead, he faces his demons head on & turns them into song" - YUCK "Vocal melodies flow over jangling guitars as Byrns’ signature blend of honesty meets humour" - HARD OF HEARING "Full of alt. country gems & lo-fi indie pop, finding the sweet spot between Badly Drawn Boy, The Bees & I Am Kloot" - RECORD COLLECTOR "Byrns taps into familiar idiosyncrasies & using emotionally intelligent lyricism, makes each line both personable & relatable" - SO YOUNG
