Evert Van Eynde's music for percussion and strings is a quest for purity and peace, yet it defies the typical neoclassical mold with its underlying complexity. Exploring the borders of classical music, jazz and avant-garde electronics at early age, Evert’s work was also shaped by collaborations with jazz pianist Jef Neve and minimal music pioneer Wim Mertens. After delivering compositions which traverse diverse realms, featuring in international TV shows, films, and theatre, Evert captures his own musical journey in his EPs ‘The Shape of Stillness’ and ‘Music for Marimba, String Quartet and Sub’, which emphasize simplicity and essence. A pinnacle of his work is a twelve-part suite for string quartet, reflecting his personal struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic with tinnitus and hyperacusis. This suite, performed by an ensemble including his violinist wife, marries harmonic brilliance with emotional depth.
