Mkada is a South African–Australian rapper, songwriter, and producer, born in Cape Town and raised in Frankston, a suburb in Melbourne’s southeast. She’s built a strong buzz around her distinctive sound and versatility, seamlessly blending hip-hop, R&B, lo-fi, futuristic, dancehall, and Afrobeat into something uniquely her own. With a dynamic range and fearless creativity, her artistry continues to push boundaries. From an early age, Mkada developed a deep passion for music, drawing inspiration from jazz, hip-hop, soul, and classical sounds. She began writing songs at 19, often using music to calm her nerves while traveling to soccer games. It didn’t take long for her to recognize the impact of her lyricism, leading her to fully immerse herself in her craft—something she’s remained committed to ever since. A natural performer, Mkada has taken the stage both as a solo act and as support for artists including Jacquees, Israel Cruz, Riff Raff, Y2, Iyla, and Adrian Swish. Her feel-good single “Rude Gyal,” featuring Adrian Swish and Slicker1, was featured on the hit Netflix series Heartbreak High. Beyond that, her music has been placed across major platforms including Netflix, Peacock, Hulu, and NBC Sports—and continues to land new placements as her reach expands.
