Emi Meyer

Born in Kyoto and raised in Seattle, Emi fuses her backgrounds, performing in both English and Japanese. Emi debuted as a recording artist with her album Curious Creature in 2009, reaching #1 on Japan’s iTunes Jazz Charts and was crowned iTunes Japan’s best new artist. She has released 8 studio albums and has collaborated with Grammy winning Keb' Mo' for フェン・アイ・ルーズ・コントロール and featured by Nappy Roots on End of The Night Song. In addition to her career as a recording artist, Emi has found success as a songwriter and composer. In 2023, Emi worked with Netflix Music Lab and music supervisor Gabe Hilfer to make a Japanese-language cover of Metallica’s For Whom the Bell Tolls for the Netflix adult animated series BLUE EYE SAMURAI. With blaring electric guitar and striking bell sounds contrasting the rest of the score, the performance by Meyer is a perfect match for the clashing swords and flames of the main character's journey. 京都生まれ、シアトル育ち。 日米を拠点に活動を行い、デビュー作品「Curious Creature」は大手配信ストアのJAZZカテゴリーで最優秀新人に選ばれ、2015年リリースのJAZZ STANDARDアルバム『モノクローム』ではi-Tunes StoreのJAZZチャートでシングル・アルバム共1位に輝くなど、JAZZをベースにポップスをブレンドした独自のスタイルで成熟した音楽リスナーたちの支持を得る女性シンガー。その音楽性からCM業界からの人気も高く、今までに担当したCM曲は「爽健美茶」「午後の紅茶」「ソニー・プラヴィア4K」「TOYOTAレクサス」「髙橋手帳」など多数。また映画では「ビリギャル」「ああ、荒野」の挿入歌を始め、海外の映画作品にも多数楽曲提供を行っている。コロナ禍を経て、2022年から音楽活動を再開。オリジナル曲「Here for You」、世界的ヒットの「Everybody Wants To Rule the World」のカバー作品等を配信。またNetflixのアニメ作品「BLUE EYE SAMURAI」の劇中歌ではメタリカの”For Whom the Bell Tolls”の日本語ヴァージョンを歌唱。
