Biography & Metadata

Founded in 2013 by Charles Almero, Freycus began as a punk-rooted project before evolving through years of experimentation into a modern progressive metal force. What started as raw urgency gradually transformed into a sound defined by atmosphere, precision, and controlled aggression. Their debut album, Sown (2024), established the band’s foundation—blending cinematic textures with rhythm-driven heaviness and layered songwriting. At the core of Freycus is contrast: tension and release, melody and impact, chaos refined into intention. The name Freycus draws inspiration from the word “fracas,” symbolizing the transformation of disorder into cohesion. That philosophy continues to shape their identity. In early 2025, the band introduced a new era with the release of Animus, marking the debut of international vocalist Pranati Khanna, known as Peekay. After touring extensively across India and Asia, Peekay relocated to Los Angeles, bringing a commanding vocal range and global perspective that reshaped the band’s creative direction. That evolution continues with their latest single, Justice Miscarried, pushing their sound further into darker, more cinematic territory while maintaining the raw intensity that defined their beginnings. The current lineup features Peekay on vocals, Zareh Minassian and Shepard Seid on guitar, and Urian Medina on bass. Now managed by founder Charles Almero, Freycus continues to expand its vision—bridging global influence with modern heavy music.
