Biography & Metadata

Born in Texas, raised in Southern California, and now based in New York City, Colette Lush makes alternative R&B built on contrasts: softness and bite, heartbreak and humor, nostalgia and experimentation. Her journey first reached a national audience on American Idol, where her voice earned praise from Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. Since then, Colette has released four independent bodies of work and built a catalog led by “Save Yourself” and “Don’t,” now surpassing 18 million and 15 million streams. Her debut project Seven-One established the emotional honesty and powerhouse vocals at the center of her music, while Ginger in Paris expanded her world through romance, heartbreak, and cinematic storytelling. Colette Lush the Ginger, as she’s known, has a heavy hand in every aspect of her art, from songwriting and vocal arrangements to artwork and visual direction. Her sound blends 90s R&B, 808s, vintage soul, stacked harmonies, and surreal pop instincts. Now, Colette is entering a new chapter. It began with “buttons,” a flirtatious, self-assured record that quickly crossed half a million streams. Her forthcoming music finds Colette on the other side of heartbreak with a sharper sense of self. She is still sensual, funny, soft, and deeply romantic, but no longer willing to shrink herself, rescue what refuses to heal, or mistake suffering for love. Still vulnerable enough to feel everything, Colette is finally certain of where she ends and everyone else begins.
